Originally from New Zealand, Ewan is a trained professional photographer, with both a Diploma in Photographic Imaging and Diploma in Professional Photography from CPIT in Christchurch as well as a Bachelor of Design and Visual Arts (Photography) from Unitec in Auckland. His work has earned prestigious Silver and Bronze awards at the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography’s annual Iris Awards.

After completing his training, Ewan worked as an assistant to wedding and event photographers before joining one of Auckland’s leading portrait studios. There, as a photographer and production manager, he developed a keen aptitude both for making people look their best and capturing the emotion in their relationships.

Now based in Toronto, Ontario with his wife, Ewan has established his own professional studio offering wedding, portrait, event, and commercial photography. He is dedicated, reliable, and works hard to ensure that his clients have beautiful artwork of their most important moments.

Personal Projects

Influenced by Bernd and Hilla Becher’s work, one of my recent projects was documenting the changing architecture of small churches in an environment of declining religiosity.

This project was a lot of fun, as many of these churches were hidden away in remote locations and gave me a good excuse for some interesting road trips! It was also nice to have the opportunity to record some of our disappearing heritage.
